Meet Marna Moss, Training Specialist, OPEX Team, South Africa
Marna Moss is a new member of the GroundProbe family! Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Marna brings extensive training and development expertise to her role as Training Specialist in the Operational Excellence (OPEX) team.
What’s your role at GroundProbe, and what are your main responsibilities?
“I’m excited to be part of the Operations Excellence team at GroundProbe, focusing on training and development. My main responsibilities include designing and implementing training programs that enhance technical skills, revamping assessment materials, and ensuring our technicians have the knowledge they need to excel with GroundProbe products. Collaborating with a diverse global team, we aim to optimise our processes and maximize productivity. Ultimately, we want every member attending our training programs to benefit and improve their performance, skills, and practical implementation—leading to both personal and company growth.”
What operational excellence targets are you and your team working towards?
“Our focus is on increasing efficiency, standardising processes, and developing our members’ skills. We’re streamlining operations in areas like safety, maintenance, and communication to enhance overall performance. A key target is to create comprehensive training programs that equip every team member with the skills to work effectively and safely while advancing in their careers. We’re not just training for the sake of it; we’re measuring outcomes and gathering feedback to continually improve and achieve operational excellence at every level.”
Can you share an example of a project you’re currently involved in that drives business improvement?
“One exciting project is the redevelopment of our training assessment materials for technicians. This initiative provides a standardised framework for evaluating their skills, ensuring consistency across all locations. It allows us to accurately measure competencies, identify gaps, and give clear feedback for improvement. Another project I’m working on is creating a competency framework to pinpoint skill gaps and provide targeted training. This ensures that our team members’ skills align with their roles, enabling personalized development plans and promoting career progression. Both projects are key to preparing our members for success and driving productivity across GroundProbe’s global operations.”
What do you enjoy most about your job?
“What I love most is the opportunity to help people grow. Creating training programs that truly make a difference in our members’ work is incredibly rewarding. Whether it’s facilitating their contributions to our global efforts or preparing them for future challenges, it’s fulfilling to see them engage with our shared goals. Knowing that my work positively impacts their development and the company’s efficiency makes every effort worthwhile.”
What does “operational excellence” mean to you and in your work?
“To me, operational excellence is all about making things run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. In my role, it means providing the right training and resources so our team can minimise mistakes and maximise productivity. It’s also about continuous improvement—finding ways to streamline processes, enhance skills, and ensure everyone works safely and effectively. Ultimately, operational excellence means preparing our teams for future challenges, ensuring they’re equipped to excel in a rapidly changing landscape, and helping GroundProbe stay competitive on a global scale.”
We’re thrilled to welcome Marna to the GroundProbe team and look forward to the positive impact she will bring!
