GroundProbe Hosts South East Asia User Group Conference
GroundProbe’s Indonesian office recently held a Slope Stability Radar User Group Conference for our South East Asia based customers.
The conference was attended by 46 customer representatives from 22 companies across Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
“Held in Balikpapan in the Grand Jatra Hotel, the main purpose of the conference was to share knowledge, experience and best practice, in terms of using GroundProbe’s SSR monitoring systems,” said Sandy Azi Soesman, GroundProbe’s Sales and Contracts Manager for Indonesia.
“Attendees were also encouraged to provide GroundProbe with feedback around how we can improve our support and services, as well as suggest areas of interest for future product development.”
The conference was opened with a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ridho K. Wattimena, from the Indonesian Rock Mechanic Society, who presented an overview of geotechnical science and monitoring within the mining industry.
Eko Gunarto, Mine Inspector of Indonesia Mining Authority (Indonesia Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources), followed up this address by presenting on the topic of the new Indonesian government regulation for slope stability monitoring.
Guest speaker Warren Tamblyn, the Geotechnical Manager for the Bayan Group, along with a number of other customers including PT Bukit Asam, Mae Moh Mine and Arutmin Indonesia, followed up the keynote address by sharing their own experiences and case studies with regard to using the SSR’s across a range of different situations.
Speaking from experience, topics included the role that monitoring can play in optimising production in open-cut coal mining, waste dump monitoring using radar and the value of real-time monitoring.
GroundProbe’s Innovation and Commercialisation Manager, Benny Chen, also gave a presentation highlighting the upcoming product and software releases currently being developed by GroundProbe.
“Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive with customers inquiring as to whether this event would become a regularly held event,” said Rahmad Matondang, GroundProbe’s Business Manager for Asia.
“Sharing knowledge among our users through these types of events is extremely beneficial to both us and the users as it allows us to gain feedback on our products and services, ensure our customers are getting the most out of their assets, and helps foster a sense of community amongst our South East Asia geotechnical experts.”
