GroundProbe Attends SME Annual Conference and Expo
Last week, GroundProbe attended the SME Annual Conference and Expo and the CMA 121st National Western Mining Conference in Denver, Colorado.
Held at the Colorado Convention Center, from 24th – 27th February, the SME Annual Conference and Expo was attended by over 6000 industry professionals from around the world with the aim of sharing innovative ideas, best practices, and cutting-edge research from across the mining and metallurgy sector.
The event was comprised of 120 technical sessions for attendees as well as an exhibition hall with over 550 separate exhibitor companies, including GroundProbe.
“The SME Annual Conference and Expo in Denver was an excellent event and allowed us to catch up with both existing clients and prospective new clients,” said Chris Bijsterveld, GroundProbe’s Business Manager for North America and Brazil.
“We were also particularly pleased to highlight our new suite of laser-based monitoring solutions, GML and GMS, which were instrumental in helping GroundProbe claim the title of the Australian Financial Review’s Most Innovative Company for Australia and New Zealand in 2018.”
GroundProbe’s GML is currently being used globally to detect and monitor convergence in underground mines but is also in use in numerous civil applications, such as tunnel construction, to assist with shotcrete application and real-time monitoring of construction to the design profile.
The GMS, which was designed as a long-term, background monitoring tool, is currently in use at mine sites around the world, specifically for background monitoring of open cut pits and highly vegetated slopes by detecting and measuring deformation on tailings dams, dumps and cuttings.
“In particular, our activities in monitoring tailings dams were a hot topic of discussion at the SME Conference given the recent increased importance being placed upon appropriate tailings facility maintenance and governance,” said Mr Bijsterveld.
“GroundProbe is proud to say that our SSR-XT, SSR-SARx and GMS systems are all suited for monitoring tailings dams and as a result are currently in use at numerous sites around the world for this very purpose.”
Overall, GroundProbe’s attendance at the SME Annual Conference and Expo was extremely beneficial and we look forward to the next SME conference in 2020 which will be held in Phoenix, Arizona.
