Empowering Indonesian Youth Through Digital Literacy Initiative
GroundProbe is thrilled to announce its second successful application to the Orica Impact Fund, which will support Yayasan HOPE Indonesia’s ‘HOPE Terampil Digital’ initiative. This collaboration between GroundProbe, Orica, and HOPE Terampil Digital aims to provide digital literacy training to disadvantaged individuals, particularly young women. By addressing social and economic barriers, the initiative seeks to empower participants with the tools they need to overcome educational and economic challenges.
Transforming Lives Through Digital Literacy
In early 2025, the HOPE Terampil Digital initiative will launch a 12-month, fully funded computer training scholarship programme across three key locations: Balikpapan and Sangatta in East Kalimantan, and Tanjung Enim in South Sumatra. The programme aims to equip participants with essential digital literacy skills, helping them advance in education and the workforce. The initiative is expected to drive lasting change in these communities by addressing the educational and technological divide.
GroundProbe’s Chief Executive Officer, David Noon, emphasised the transformative nature of the initiative:
“Having financially supported this programme in 2024, our team members from the Balikpapan office have seen firsthand the impact it has had on participants’ lives. We are excited to continue collaborating with HOPE Worldwide as they inspire and actively contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty while fostering a digitally literate generation. This partnership is a dynamic and successful educational and community-based initiative—it’s a win-win for all involved.”
Addressing Barriers to Education and Employment
Indonesia faces significant challenges in providing access to quality education and technology, particularly for marginalised communities. Many individuals, including young women and low-income families, are deprived of basic computer skills, further limiting their opportunities for economic advancement. GroundProbe’s Business Manager for Asia, Fikri Adrianto, emphasised the importance of such initiatives:
“Indonesia faces significant challenges in providing access to quality education and technology, especially for marginalised groups. Many are left without vital computer skills, further limiting their socioeconomic opportunities. Initiatives like HOPE Terampil Digital are crucial in breaking this cycle.”
By providing access to digital literacy, the HOPE Terampil Digital programme will empower these communities to overcome barriers and open the door to new opportunities for education, employment, and financial independence.
Creating Lasting Impact in 2025 and Beyond
To support 250 students and 10 teachers, HOPE Terampil Digital aims for a 100% graduation rate, with 50% female participation. Lily Salim, Managing Country Director of Yayasan HOPE Indonesia, emphasised the critical need for this initiative:
“Our training programme addresses the profound social and economic inequalities that hinder disadvantaged individuals’ progress. The challenge is that 28% of young Indonesians aged 10-24 are not in school or employed, and we are determined to change this. in Our aspirations are high, but with the generous support of organisations like Orica and GroundProbe, we are confident we can make a lasting impact.”
With HOPE Terampil Digital poised to launch in 2025, GroundProbe and Orica are playing a vital role in empowering Indonesian youth through technology and education, ensuring a brighter future for all.
