Celebrating our inaugural Geosolutions customer user conference in Papua New Guinea
GroundProbe and Terra Insights have combined under Orica Digital Solutions to form Geosolutions, an innovative solution provider that will revolutionise monitoring in the mining and civil infrastructure sectors.
GroundProbe and Orica Geosolutions recently held their first Customer User Conference in Papua New Guinea. This landmark event gathered industry experts, thought leaders, and key customers from across the region to explore innovations and advancements in mining and geotechnical technology.
Held at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby, the conference began with an address from Clifford Walsh, VP – Australia, Asia & Operational Excellence at GroundProbe. Clifford emphasised the value of innovation and close customer partnerships to meet unique challenges in Papua New Guinea, noting that this conference marks the start of enhanced collaboration in the region.
The keynote, delivered by James Bu, Manager – Mine Technical Services at Ok Tedi, offered an in-depth look into the role of technology in modern mining. Prof. Joseph Espi from the University of Papua New Guinea followed, discussing the essential partnership between the mining industry and academia to cultivate the next generation of geotechnical engineers.
Conference attendees explored the latest advancements shaping the future of mining in PNG through a series of technical presentations. These sessions featured insights from leaders such as Dudley Thomas of Lihir, Tata Peryoga, Gabriel Mukap, Fahmi Aminuddin, Ben King of Orica Geosolutions, and E. Mulu and M. Wurin from Ok Tedi. The presentations covered real-world applications in geotechnical monitoring, data analytics, and safety protocols, equipping attendees with practical knowledge to tackle upcoming industry challenges.
In addition to gaining technical insights, attendees engaged directly with GroundProbe and Orica Geosolutions experts, discussing case studies and exchanging ideas with industry peers. The event’s success has prompted GroundProbe and Orica Geosolutions to plan a follow-up conference within the next 14 months, underscoring their commitment to supporting collaboration and technological advancement in PNG’s mining sector.
