Meet Paul
What is your name?
My name is Paul Davies.
What is your position at GroundProbe?
Commercial Manager – Australasia
How long have you been with GroundProbe?
I’ve been with GroundProbe for five years this October.
What makes your job unique?
I manage commercial relationships with customers across the East Coast of Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. This position is unique because I interact with a diverse range of people and cultures while helping them solve challenges.
What do you love most about working at GroundProbe?
The best part of working at GroundProbe is definitely visiting customers at their mine sites. It’s incredible to see the scale of operations at an open-cut mine.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Sure! I grew up in Gladstone, Central Queensland, which is close to many of my current customers in the Bowen Basin. My dad was an electrician who sometimes did shutdown work in mines during his holidays at Curragh and Saraji—which are now customers. Growing up in a small regional town, I was really into playing the trumpet and aimed to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Eventually, I switched gears and decided to study business and marketing.
The mining industry in Australia contributes a significant amount to our economy and offers many opportunities for innovation. GroundProbe’s early success and growth were due to the support of geotechnical engineers working in coal mines in the Bowen Basin. Today, we’re proud to support mining customers all over the world with our technology and innovation.
